over 3 years ago – Mon, Jan 25, 2021 at 07:24:18 PM

Hey Folks,

Hope you're doing well, just wanted to give a quick update on where we are up to. So far 251 pledges have been packed and shipped with 116 remaining. I've been concentrating on getting all of the physical pledges out firstly and then following that Digital items will be sent out also.

Some people have started receiving theirs already and it's really great to see all the positive comments! So thank you for that, it was a long road to produce the game where we've learnt a lot, which will help us heaps in the future.

I'll shoot another update once the last parcel goes out so from there you'll have a date from there when to expect yours to arrive.

Thanks for your support!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Dec 24, 2020 at 07:15:56 AM

THE CARDS HAVE ARRIVED!

Yes - it's true!! They were scheduled for delivery in January but with some persuasive talking, we got them before then. After unpacking and reviewing them I am very, very happy with the quality and how they've come out.

As always throughout the campaign, I've been honest & transparent about the process & I'd like to thank you for your patience throughout the campaign. Here's the visual difference I'd like to share with you;  Below the comparison to the original printer (left) that had that caused all the problems for us and delayed us from our deadline. As you can see on the left the colours were all off, the sizing was wrong and it was general shoddiness.

Same with the box, again the original printer prototype is on the left, and as you can see the colours are all WRONG! This is why I had to delay production when I did. If you've backed us before you've come to expect a standard of high-quality work so this case was going to be no different. I felt pressure to meet the deadline but I couldn't compromise the vision I had.

ALL OF THE CARDS IN THEIR GLORY!

SHIPPING

The cards were the last components we were waiting on, everything else is prepped and ready to pack.

Packing will begin in the first weeks of January 2021.  As some of you know the United Kingdom is due to leave the EU at the end of this month so this is predicted to affect the way we are supposed to label up our international packages, so we want to make sure we get this absolutely right and learn the new methods to avoid any delays and then we plan to start shipping the 4th week of January. After that digital fulfilment will start to take place in Feb. As I said in the last update, address changes cannot be changed after 31/12/2020 so please do message me if you have/planning on moving from now until then.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Until next year, I want to wish you the very best over the holiday season and a happy new year! Thank you for your support.

The Update You've Been Waiting For...
over 3 years ago – Mon, Nov 23, 2020 at 06:07:28 AM

Hello there!

As per the last update, I only wanted to update you when I had something substantial to tell you. So without any more build-up of tension, I'm very happy to tell you that today I've approved the proofs, and Clash of the Cryptids has officially gone into PRODUCTION!

Behind the scenes, approving proofs.

It's been a long & bumpy road, I'd found the right printers for the job 4 weeks ago, but the cards needed to be completely re-set up in terms of ready for print ( not affecting the design) but technical aspects had to be changed and changed again. I've been working every day on it, there have been setbacks along the way but this is a big stepping stone that I'm thankful to finally get over.

What's next?

Unfortunately, the printer I ended up choosing could not offer the Gold Guilt edging which was one of the stretch goals we unlocked at the end, it was becoming increasingly difficult to find a printer that could offer this service and I really did not prolong any more delays. The gold metallic ink is something that was an absolute must though and I did not want to compromise so I'm happy to let you know that we will still be having that. I've used the final stretch goal to upgrade the cards up from 300gsm to 350gsm so they'll be thicker & more durable as well as upgrading our shipping options so that will reduce the lead time for delivery to us from 8 weeks shipping to 1 week in total.

Production time is expected to take 6 weeks and then one week's shipping from our printers. I have all the print extras, packaging ready to start packing as soon as they arrive, so I'll be ready for a quick turnaround from when they do arrive. I expect the cards to arrive mid-late JAN in the new year.

ADDRESSES

So I locked the addresses on backerkit not long after the campaign thinking we were shipping before we got hit by the incident with the first printer. Unfortunately, it won't allow me to unlock the orders to let you change your address if you've moved or expect to move please just message, the cut-off for changing your address will be JAN 1st 2021  because I expect we will be shipping very soon after this.

THAT'S ALL FOR NOW.

I always want to be completely transparent with everything we do on Kickstarter and this in this case is no different, thank you so much for your patience.

Gold Foil Print Arrival! + Production Update
over 3 years ago – Mon, Oct 05, 2020 at 11:17:29 PM

Hello there!

I wanted to share with you the Gold Limited Edition Prints that arrived last week! They look really great and even shinier in person! You're in for a real treat if you nabbed one.

Production Update.

I'm always open and transparent with every Kickstarter I do and this will be no different. Frankly, I have disappointing news. Out of all of my 18 previous Kickstarters, I've always met our deadline for production and It's very likely that we won't be able to meet our October deadline. Here's why...

Before I launch on Kickstarter I always have the production of a book or in this case, a card game 90%  completed before launching on Kickstarter, this always assures us a renowned quick turnaround. Clash of the Cryptids was no different. The artwork and production were completed before we launched, and mid-campaign I ordered the prototype. I received the prototype and there were changes I wanted to make.

We were assured by our printers that the corrections would be made to the deck BUT we would have to wait 2-3 weeks to wait for their designer to arrive back from their holiday (they were the only person that could assist us) This was a setback, but we'd already invested a lot of time into this print company with their specific set-up so we decided to wait it out, because we believed this was going to be done correctly. We waited for the 3 weeks and were then told by the designer who returned from their holiday that they could NOT make the adjustments because it was going to be too time-intensive, which makes this set-back all the greater now with so much time wasted.

There is only so much you can control as a creator and the printing side is something you cannot. I could have gone ahead with the prototype that we received but it wasn't anything like I had envisioned and that is not me being nitpicky, this was a printing issue and I wasn't going to give it the go-ahead to something sub-par when you have invested your hard-earned money into this idea.

WHAT NOW?

I ask of you for time and some patience while I try to source another printer, I've been searching for hours on end for the last week for somewhere in the U.K. to print with our spec with the Metallic Ink and Gold Guild edges but it's looking very unlikely and I may have to widen my search to Europe which in turn needs more time.

I'm so sorry if you are disappointed by this message, trust me I'm more disappointed than anyone. When you have everything ready production-wise for the printers you expect everything to be simple afterwards, but it was not in this case. I want to assure you though that I will absolutely deliver on this, and I want to be able to deliver on this with the level of quality I had always planned too.

I don't want to give out another date of when you can expect the cards until I find another printer, it may be 3 months, it may be 6 months, but trust me, I will be working hard to deliver on this asap. The next update I will make is when we secure a printer so it may be a little quiet here for a while, so I kindly ask for your patience in this time. Thank you for your support.
